Overview of Position:
Manage and direct all geoscience activities (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, etc.) necessary to identify, acquire and develop

Candidate Qualifications:
- Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Geology/Geophysics with advanced geoscience degree preferred along with 8+ years of Oil and Gas industry experience
- Oil and gas prospect generation experience that has resulted in new field discoveries through the integration geology and seismic data
- Must be able to build databases, maps, cross sections, presentations and reports in a timely manner using Petra and/or "Petra-type" software and have a good working knowledge of spreadsheet and PowerPoint-type software
- Have a good understanding of play and prospect economic models and risk factors so appropriate geoscience data can be applied to engineering and financial analysis
- Must have good interpersonal and management skills so that internal and external personnel resources are inspired to support the geoscience work effort and company goals
- Excellent presentation skills are required in order to convince company management, partners, and financial institutions to support the acquisition of high quality prospects that are generated by the company team
- Experience in Barnett and other gas shale plays is preferred

Senior Geologist
Senior Geologist-5+ yrs experience in onshore development needed for new role in established E&P.
Responsibilities include:
- Select new areas for leasing activity and project growth
- Evaluation of new projects within designated area as to their economic chance of success
- Construction of cross-sections to document lateral reservoir characteristics
- Basic understanding of fracture stimulation technology
- Working with engineering staff on the development of stacked reservoirs and completion intervals of wells within your project area
- Perform field or reservoir studies in coordination with engineering staff
- Detailed log correlation and petrophysical analysis of formations;
- Subsurface mapping capabilities including the ability to make structure maps, isopach, gross sand, net sand, net pay, and completion maps; necessary to document reservoir characteristics and book SEC reserves
- Keeping track of offset activity and any new technology within each prospective area
- Coordinating with the land department to document and understand land situations and issues
- Presenting ideas and results to management using maps, logs, and spreadsheets. Providing management updated documentation and results in addition to development opportunities within each area
Desired skills include:
- 4 yr degree required, Geology preferred - other degree programs will be considered and accepted with additional experience
- 5+ years of experience working as a petroleum geologist for a large independent or major as a development geologist - onshore
- Experience using GeoGraphix, Smart Section highly desired

This would include preparation and interpretation of structure maps, net sand/porosity maps, net hydrocarbon maps and both structural and stratigraphic cross-sections - Extensive history of working with reservoir engineers to determine project reserves and economics.
- Clastic and carbonate experience is a requirement.

- Planning, execution, and evaluation of exploration, appraisal, and development wells.
- Integrate all reservoir data in order to build and maintain sound geological models for input to reservoir simulation. These models will form the basis for designing and optimizing well drilling programs, field development plans as well as reserve and economic evaluations.
- Assist acquisition team qualifying and evaluating upside development potential of acquisition prospects.

Position Overview:
Contributes geological expertise to the planning and evaluation of acquisition candidates, working both independently and
within a fully integrated team environment. Duties include project screening, presentation to senior management, and
preparation of documents to support board of director's decisions.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serves as acquisition evaluation geoscientist and coordinates and facilitates the technical evaluations in support of the Acquisition Manager and technical Chiefs;
- Promotes standardized work products and procedures and facilitates consistency in technical presentations;
- Integrates geological data with geophysical, petrophysical and engineering data;
- Constructs geological maps from well logs, seismic data and engineering data;
- Studies well logs, production tests, and DSTs, analyzes cores and cuttings from well drillings, and interprets data obtained by electrical or radioactive well logging and other subsurface surveys to identify and recommend areas for additional development/exploitation in acquisition candidates;
- Independently evaluates subsurface components of acquisition properties / opportunities for proven and upside hydrocarbon potential and makes recommendations based on technical and business experience;
- When needed, develops geological models from well logs, cross-sections, and maps. Incorporates biostratigraphic, log character analysis, and seismic data to develop interpretation of depositional environment and facies distributions;
- Evaluates exploration prospects associated with acquisition candidates;
- May act as leader of small groups of technical personnel, and may provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists;
- Works closely with the Exploration, Operations, Production, Marketing, Legal and Land Departments, management, and contractors.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology with a minimum of 10 years related experience in the oil and gas industry; Master's degree preferred;
- Experience in planning, conducting, and coordinating difficult and responsible assignments using application of mature technical knowledge;
- Ability to do deterministic and probabilistic volume calculations, risk analysis, geophysical evaluation, and an understanding of field development and SEC reserve booking;
- Ability to run a seismic workstation and familiarity with seismic structural and AVO (DHI) interpretations of both shelf and deepwater environments.
